Managing Post-Production
April 21-22, 9 am – 4 pm

Learn more about the workflow and management of post-production issues and responsibilities. Focus on areas such as post-production expense budgeting, scheduling, and facilities. Learn how to recruit and employ professionals. Discuss managing domestic and foreign distribution requirements.

 

SUMMER 2012 ZGI FILMMAKING WORKSHOP SCHEDULE

Final Cut Pro
July 11-13, 9 am – 4 pm
Instructor: Bryan Reinhart
This workshop will provide an in-depth study of the primary feature set and basic interface of “FCP.”  You’ll learn to perform basic editing functions while familiarizing yourself with the user interface. Topics include basic set-up, adjusting and customizing preferences and settings, capturing video and audio, various editing and trimming techniques, finishing and final output. Filmmaking Boot Camp
July 19 – 22, 9 am – 4 pm
Instructor: Jeremy Hawkes
Filmmaking Boot Camp workshop will cover a variety of topics and serve as an introduction to the film industry. You will learn about the three-act structure of screenwriting, budget issues, fundraising options, technical distribution requirements, how to break down a script for pre-production, auditions pointers, rehearsal tips, hiring crew, art direction, equipment demonstrations (camera, lighting, sound, grip, electric), care and handling of equipment, lot’s of time for Q&A and lighting set-up demonstrations for documentary and narrative environments. Register at Community Education - easy shopping cart system. Directing Actors

Shawn has a lot to offer with experience as a professional actor, director, writer and a respected Hollywood acting coach for over 25 yrs. His clients include twice Emmy Award winner and Golden Globe award winner Sela Ward. “Shawn is high energy, dynamic and has a remarkable ability to clearly communicate the process of directing,” said Stephan Schultze, former Director of ZGI. Visual Effects for Filmmaking

Adobe After Effects software is used for the creation of motion graphics, animation, video effects, and visually stunning titles. After Effects enables you to create motion graphics and special effects within the industry standard. This class covers basic system setup, introduction to the After Effects interface, animations, keyframing, transformations, compositing, mattes, effects, and how to integrate video, FCP and Photoshop with After Effects. This is a 4 credit class.

Guerrilla Filmmaking

Learn how to produce low-budget professional independent films. Course will cover production relationships, shooting schedules, scripts, pre-production, budgets, script breakdown, permits, fees, security, catering, budgeting, union rules and regulations, conflict resolution, fund-raising, rights clearances, licenses, and developing/transferring/editing/screening issues.
